ICE Reports Record First-Half Trading Volumes in 2025
Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) has set a new benchmark for trading activity in the first half of 2025, with 1.2 billion futures and options contracts traded across its markets. Average daily volumes reached 10 million contracts, including 6 million commodity contracts—a historic high.
Energy markets dominated the surge, with 673.4 million contracts traded. Oil futures and options accounted for 400.8 million, while natural gas reached 250.8 million. Financial derivatives followed closely at 512 million contracts, led by interest rate products (461.9 million).
Key benchmarks saw unprecedented activity: ICE Brent (211.4 million contracts), ICE WTI (55.3 million), and ICE TTF natural gas (61.2 million). The Euribor and SONIA rate products traded 283.3 million and 114 million contracts respectively, reflecting heightened hedging demand in volatile markets.
